01 · The casino

A pirate-themed sweeps site with a short life

Gold Ahoy dressed itself up as a pirate ship. The games, the bonuses and even the closing notice were written in pirate language. Under the theme it was a normal sweepstakes casino. You played slots with Gold Coins for fun, and you collected Sweeps Coins, which you could swap for real money once you had enough.

The site was aimed at players in the United States. Like most sweepstakes casinos, it did not take players from states that had banned this kind of site. The list of banned states grew fast in 2025 and 2026, which cut the number of people Gold Ahoy could sell to.

We could not find a clear public record of which company ran Gold Ahoy. The closing notice did not name one. That matters, because it means players who lost money have no obvious company to write to.

02 · The shutdown

The notice, the dates and what it did not say

In June 2026 a notice went up on the Gold Ahoy home page. It was written as a captain’s log and started with the words The Ship Has Sailed. It said the site was closing its ports, and it gave two dates. The last day to ask for a cash-out was 26 June 2026. The site itself would close on 30 June 2026.

The notice told players to email [email protected] if they needed help with a cash-out, and said support would reply within three business days. That is not much time. A player who emailed on 25 June might not get a reply before the site closed.

The notice gave no reason for the closure. It did not say whether the company was closing for good or planning something new. There was no press release. The only official word was the note on the home page.

Gold Ahoy was not the only site to go that month. Sweepstakes news sites listed it alongside other closures in June 2026, including ZanZo, which went dark with no notice at all. Compared with that, Gold Ahoy at least gave players a few days.

03 · The money

Cash-outs before 26 June, and nothing after

The rules were simple. If you sent your cash-out request by the end of 26 June 2026, the site said it would be handled. If you did not, your Sweeps Coins were lost when the site closed on 30 June.

We have not seen any public confirmation that every request sent in time was paid. We also have not seen a wave of complaints saying people were not paid. Both of those things could change, so we grade the money outcome as Unconfirmed for now.

If you sent a request in time and have not been paid, your best step is to email [email protected] and keep a copy of everything. Whether that inbox is still read, we do not know. There is no other public contact for the company.

Beware of anyone who contacts you offering to recover your Gold Ahoy balance for a fee. There is no official recovery service. These offers are scams.
