01 · The site

Switzerland only lets real casinos go online

Switzerland treats online gambling unlike most countries. You cannot just apply for an online licence. You have to already own a licensed Swiss casino with a building and tables in it. Only then can you ask to extend that permit to the internet.

That rule keeps the number of Swiss online casinos very small. It also ties every one of them to a real business with a real address.

GoldenGrand was the online arm of Airport Casino Basel AG. So the company behind it was a proper Swiss casino business, not an offshore shell.

02 · The shutdown

Stopped for money reasons, then made official

The site stopped running on 30 July 2025. The reason given was money. In plain words, it was not making enough money.

The Swiss federal gaming regulator then made it final. On 20 August 2025 it withdrew the online add-on to the company casino permit.

The regulator own wording includes a small but telling detail. It says the company had given up its right to a hearing before the choice was made. That means the operator did not argue. It had already stopped and was not trying to keep the permit.

This is a calm ending, not a scandal. A business decided the online side did not pay, stopped it, and handed the permit back.

03 · The money

The address now belongs to a rival

We could not find anything about player money. No deadline, no plan, no complaints. That is a gap in this record and we will not pretend otherwise.

What we can tell you is what the address does now. We loaded it on 10 September 2026 and it sends people to Swiss4Win, a live Swiss online casino run by Casino Lugano. That is a different company.

So a former GoldenGrand player typing in the old address today lands on a rival casino. There is nothing wrong with that, and Swiss4Win is itself a fully licensed Swiss site. But it is not the place to ask about an old GoldenGrand balance.

Anyone still owed money should contact Airport Casino Basel AG right away, because it still exists. If that fails, try the Swiss federal gaming regulator. A Swiss casino company with a real licence is about the easiest kind of business in this archive to find. It is also the easiest to chase.

Swiss online casinos must be attached to a real licensed Swiss casino building. That makes the business easy to find years later, which is not true of most closures on this site.

The site stopped on 30 July 2025. The regulator formally withdrew its online permission on 20 August 2025.
