01 · The site
A licensed site that quit anyway
Uganda licenses its betting sites through a government body. It is called the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board. Kiwibet held its licences through Synerlink Group Limited.
The detail that makes this record unusual is the licence status. Kiwibet was not shut down. It did not lose its licence and it was not fined. It held valid 2025 licences for both its betting machines and its general operations on the day it stopped.
Think about what that means. A company paid for a licence and then quit partway through the year. Whatever went wrong, it was not a licensing problem.
02 · The shutdown
Three days notice to the regulator
The regulator announced the closure publicly on 30 June 2025.
It also said how much warning it had been given. About three days. That is the operator telling its own regulator, at the last minute, that it was stopping.
If the regulator got three days, players did not get much more.
No reason was ever given by the company. Local commentators guessed at Uganda betting taxes or money trouble. That is guesswork by outsiders, not a statement from anyone who knows, and we record it that way.
03 · The money
Sixty days, and a complaints line
Players were given until 30 August 2025 to withdraw. That is a sixty day window from the announcement, which is reasonable.
After that date the site became unreachable.
The regulator did something useful here. It published contact details for players to report problems. It named three types. Winnings still owed. Bets that had not been settled. Money still sitting in an account.
A regulator does not publish a list like that for fun. It suggests that unresolved cases existed. We cannot tell you how many or how they ended.
We could not load the site ourselves on 10 September 2026. Our request failed before any page came back, so we cannot describe what is there now.
Any Ugandan player still owed money should go to the regulator. Use the reporting route it published. That is the only real option left.

How we verified this record
Every claim on this page is graded by how firmly we could check it. Confirmed means we saw it in the operator’s own notice or in a document that cannot easily be faked. Observed means we saw it ourselves on the live site or domain on the date given. Unconfirmed means it has been reported but we could not prove it.
