01 · The site
A short life in a hard market
Denmark licenses its online gambling through a regulator called Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority. NetBet got a Danish casino licence around March 2024 and opened soon after.
The company behind it is NetBet Enterprises Limited, based in Birkirkara in Malta. The NetBet name also trades in France, Italy, Portugal and Romania. Only the Danish arm closed.
Denmark is a small, well-run and very crowded market. There are around 36 licence holders chasing a country of six million people. A newcomer with no local name is fighting for scraps.
02 · The shutdown
Twenty days, and no explanation
NetBet told its marketing partners on Friday 9 January 2026 that it had decided to close in Denmark. It stopped taking bets and deposits on 29 January 2026.
That is twenty days of notice.
No reason was given. Danish coverage says the company announced the closure without saying why. We looked for a statement and there is not one.
The regulator did not act. We checked its published news for the whole period and there is nothing about NetBet. This was a business decision, not a punishment.
One more thing worth noting. Another Danish site, Betit, closed on exactly the same day. The two are not connected as far as we can tell. It just says something about how hard that market was in early 2026.
03 · The money
Email support and ask for it back
The site is still up, in a very reduced form. We loaded it on 10 September 2026. It shows the NetBet logo, some legal text, payment partner logos and a single button pointing to the main international site. There are no games and no login.
Danish players holding a balance were told to email support and ask for their money back. There was no automatic payout and no deadline published that we could find.
We found no reports of anyone being refused. We also found no proof that everyone was paid.
The position is fair, though. NetBet Enterprises Limited still trades in several countries. A live company with customers to keep has a reason to settle an old Danish balance.
If email gets you nowhere, try the Danish Gambling Authority. It licensed the site at the time, so it is the next place to go.
04 · The receipts
How we verified this record
Every claim on this page is graded by how firmly we could check it. Confirmed means we saw it in the operator’s own notice or in a document that cannot easily be faked. Observed means we saw it ourselves on the live site or domain on the date given. Unconfirmed means it has been reported but we could not prove it.
05 · The questions
NetBet Denmark – the questions still open
Q. Has NetBet closed?
Only in Denmark. It stopped taking Danish bets and deposits on 29 January 2026. The brand still trades in other countries.
Q. Why did it close?
No reason was given. The company announced the decision without any explanation.
Q. How much notice was there?
Twenty days. Partners were told on 9 January 2026 and the site stopped on 29 January 2026.
Q. How do I get my balance back?
The site tells anyone with a remaining balance to email support and request a withdrawal. Put it in writing and keep a copy.
Q. What if support does not answer?
The Danish Gambling Authority licensed the site, so that is where a complaint goes.
Q. Was it shut down by the regulator?
No. We read the regulator published news for the whole period and there is no action against NetBet.
